Total Days: 45
Total Minutes: 4052 (67 hours
Average Heating Minutes per Day: Just over 90 minutes
Average Heating Minutes per Participating Day: 119
Longest Single Heating Day: 2/26/2010, with 600 minutes
Almost a fourth of the total time came over the two days that I was sick. I had a bad chill and fever, so I kept the heating pad on for most of the time I was awake one day and about half the time I was awake the next.
The orginal study that I read, by Dr. Vogeli, had participants heat themselves in buckets of 116 degree F water for 21 consecutive days. This provided contraception for an average of six months after the two-month spermatogenesis delay.
My study, measuring the related sperm counts, differs in several ways. First the sitz baths, while initially 116 degrees F, are unlikely to have stayed that hot for very long. I use a heating pad, wrapped in a way that delivers a steady 108-110 degrees F. Second, participants in her study spent 45 minutes heating per day for 21 consecutive days. My longest consecutive period was 16 days, although I've heated a total of 34 days in the 45 days since my little study began. I've also averaged twice the daily heating time as Dr. Vogeli's participants, which I hope will make up for the lower temperature and shorter consecutive streaks.
One of the big reasons I'm recording this is that I've successfully used the heat method for several years now. I know, and have known, that I am not as exact or regular as the participants in other studies. The point I'd like to make is that it can be done, it can work, for normal guys.
I think that it is completely doable for many regular people. When I am heating, I usually surf the internet, watch movies, read books, and study. It tends to be my quiet, alone time of the day. I hope that the information here is helpful to others.
Just some thoughts. Anyone out there?
